The development of sustainable tourism is essential to preserve the environment and ensure social sustainability. This study aims to analyze and formulate development strategies for Batu Buaya Beach, a tourism destination located in East Bolaang Mongondow Regency, North Sulawesi, Indonesia. The research employed direct observation methods and interviews with the village head, local residents, beach managers, and tourists. The results indicate that the main strengths of Batu Buaya Beach include its natural beauty, unique rock formations, and relatively complete facilities. However, several weaknesses were identified, such as limited road access, suboptimal infrastructure management, and an unstable number of visitors. Opportunities for improvement include infrastructure development, ecotourism development, facility integration, and the utilization of existing facilities for ecotourism programs. The threats faced consist of competition with other tourist destinations, environmental degradation, and excessive dependence on investors. The proposed development strategies include prioritizing road access improvements, designing sustainable ecotourism programs, creating new attractions to stabilize visitor numbers, and developing unique ecotourism programs to increase tourist visits. This study concludes that Batu Buaya Beach has significant potential for tourism development.
Ruslani Marthen Tombeg Sony Wijanarko Bella Makaminang Tesalonika Kaunang Copyright (c) 2026 Jurnal Ilmu Pariwisata 2025-11-21 2025-11-21 4 2 1 13 Strategi Pengembangan Paket Wisata Bahari Berbasis Kearifan Lokal Di Taman Nasional Bunaken Untuk Meningkatkan Daya Saing Destinasi Sulawesi Utara https://stpmanado.ac.id/jurhos/index.php/jip/article/view/133
The development of marine tourism in Bunaken National Park holds significant potential in enhancing the competitiveness of North Sulawesi’s tourism destinations. However, challenges such as ecological pressures, limited community involvement, and inadequate integration of local wisdom into tourism packages hinder destination growth. This study aims to formulate strategies for developing marine tourism packages based on local wisdom to enhance destination competitiveness using participatory approaches, community empowerment, and sustainable conservation. A qualitative approach was adopted, including case study analysis and stakeholder interviews (managers, MSMEs, and tourists). Findings suggest that integrating local cultural elements, enhancing human resource capacity, digital marketing strategies, and multi–stakeholder collaboration are essential to improving destination competitiveness. Strategic recommendations are proposed to support more innovative, inclusive, and sustainable tourism package development. The results contribute to policy development for marine tourism in Indonesia’s marine conservation areas.
Bet El Lagarense Nelson Alexander Agustinus Walansendow Copyright (c) 2026 Jurnal Ilmu Pariwisata 2025-11-21 2025-11-21 4 2 1 10 Analisis Komparatif Metode Simple Moving Average Dan Single Exponential Smoothing Dalam Peramalan Kunjungan Wisatawan Domestik Dan Mancanegara Ke Provinsi Sulawesi Utara https://stpmanado.ac.id/jurhos/index.php/jip/article/view/136
The tourism sector in North Sulawesi Province has experienced significant fluctuations due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic since 2020, followed by a recovery phase up to 2025. This condition highlights the importance of accurate forecasting methods to support tourism planning and policy formulation. This study aims to compare the accuracy of two forecasting methods, namely Simple Moving Average (SMA) and Single Exponential Smoothing (SES), in predicting tourist arrivals. The study employs time series data on tourist arrivals obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of North Sulawesi Province for the period 2020–2025. The performance of both methods is evaluated using the Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) as the forecasting accuracy measure. The results indicate that the Single Exponential Smoothing method, with an appropriately selected α parameter, produces lower forecasting errors compared to the Simple Moving Average method. Therefore, SES is considered more suitable for forecasting tourist arrivals in North Sulawesi Province, which is characterized by dynamic and unstable data patterns.
Sri Soeyati Bet El Silisna Lagarense Agustinus Walansendow Copyright (c) 2026 Jurnal Ilmu Pariwisata 2025-11-21 2025-11-21 4 2 1 9 Pengembangan Pariwisata Budaya Berbasis Kearifan Lokal Mandullu’u’ Tonna Dan Pemberdayaan Masyarakat Di Kabupaten Kepulauan Talaud, Sulawesi Utara https://stpmanado.ac.id/jurhos/index.php/jip/article/view/134
This study examines the potential and development strategies of cultural tourism based on local wisdom through the Madulu’u’tonna Festival in the Talaud Islands Regency, North Sulawesi Province. Despite being classified as a less-developed region, Talaud possesses rich and distinctive cultural traditions that offer significant potential as alternative tourism attractions. This research adopts a qualitative method with an ethnographic approach, employing field observations, in-depth interviews, and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs). Data analysis is guided by the 4A framework—Attraction, Accessibility, Amenity, and Ancillary—to assess opportunities and constraints in developing the Madulu’u’tonna Festival as a cultural tourism asset. The findings indicate that the festival embodies profound spiritual, social, and economic values for the local community and demonstrates strong potential to evolve into a flagship cultural tourism event. Nevertheless, inadequate infrastructure and limited promotional capacity remain major challenges. The novelty of this study lies in its integrative and holistic approach, which links local wisdom with community-based tourism development while proposing a cultural preservation model that prioritizes local empowerment and the strengthening of regional cultural identity.
Efraim Laluas Helni Desty Yanice Lagarense Ruslani Copyright (c) 2026 Jurnal Ilmu Pariwisata 2025-11-21 2025-11-21 4 2 1 8 ANALISIS PERILAKU WISATAWAN DAN EFEKTIVITAS PEMANDU LOKAL DALAM MENDUKUNG EKOWISATA BERKELANJUTAN DI CAGAR ALAM TANGKOKO https://stpmanado.ac.id/jurhos/index.php/jip/article/view/127
Tangkoko Nature Reserve is a primate ecotourism destination with great potential for sustainable tourism development in North Sulawesi. This study aims to analyze tourist behavior and the effectiveness of local guides in supporting sustainable ecotourism. The research employs a mixed methods approach with data collection techniques through structured observation, questionnaires, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Research respondents consist of 350 domestic and international tourists, and 20 local guides. Quantitative data analysis uses descriptive analysis and multiple regression, while qualitative data is analyzed thematically. The results show that tourist behavior in Tangkoko Nature Reserve is dominated by conservation education motivation (82%), rare wildlife observation (78%), and authentic nature experience (75%). The level of tourist environmental awareness is in the high category with an average score of 4.2 out of 5. The effectiveness of local guides in supporting sustainable ecotourism reaches 85%, demonstrated through ecological interpretation skills (88%), effective communication (84%), and conservation education (82%). Regression analysis shows that local guide quality significantly contributes 67% to tourist satisfaction and 72% to pro-conservation tourist behavior. This research recommends strengthening competency-based guide training programs, developing ecotourism guide certification systems, and increasing local community participation in ecotourism management.
Bet El Lagarense Marthen Tombeg Stevie Pangkey Copyright (c) 2026 Jurnal Ilmu Pariwisata 2025-11-21 2025-11-21 4 2 1 12
